Historic House Trust of New York City
In collaboration with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation and 22 properties throughout the five boroughs, the Historic House Trust (HHT) supports the preservation and interpretation of significant buildings located in parks citywide. Additionally, the trust works to raise awareness of these sites and explore the many facets of New York City history that are revealed by such structures.
Classroom materials: The HHT website offers suggestions for previsit and follow-up activities that can be applied to any of the Historic Houses. (Grades K–8) The trust publishes Historic Houses in New York City Parks, a booklet of photographs and descriptions of each HHT property, as well as The Children's Guide to Historic Houses in New York City Parks, which provides historic context, biographic detail on early residents of the houses, and helps students envision the experiences of these individuals. (Grades 4–7; free).
