Archivists Round Table of Metropolitan New York

More than 300 representatives of archives, libraries, and repositories form the membership of the Archivists Round Table of Metropolitan New York (ART). The ART serves as a networking and professional education resource for information professionals and as an educator and advocate of preservation and use of historical materials. The ART website maintains an index of its member repositories, including collections with a specific New York City focus. ART hosts the permanent online exhibit, From the Seaport to Silicon Alley: A History of Technology in NYC, 1820–2000, which showcases technological developments specifically applied by companies and inventors in the New York City region.

Professional development: Monthly panels on various topics related to preservation and access to historical records are open to nonmembers. ($)

Student/teacher events: ART organizes the annual New York Archives Week in October to celebrate New York history and increase awareness of the city's archival resources.

Additional resources: The ART Repository Guide is a directory of nearly 150 archives in New York, organized alphabetically and by subject, and available on the ART website.

General information: Web: www.nycarchivists.org. Contact information for the ART Board of Directors is posted on the website.
