New York City and the Nation
Welcome to the New York City and the Nation area of our website!
The Gotham Center is proud to be a part of a school/community consortium with the New York City Department of Education and cultural partners City Lore, the Brooklyn Historical Society, the New-York Historical Society, Henry Street Settlement, and the Historic House Trust of New York City. This partnership, New York City and the Nation, sponsors professional development in American history.
Together these partners direct an intensive series of programming, including week-long summer institutes, year-long Gotham Fellows programs, a Teacher Leadership Program, and classroom mentoring. Led by Pulitzer prize-winning historian Mike Wallace, specialists in a range of content bring graduate level presentations and discussions to teachers, and professional development specialists bridge from scholarship to classroom application.
In this section of our website you will find descriptions of our professional development offerings, opportunities to participate in professional development and teacher generated materials for use in your classrooms that were developed under U.S. Department of Education Teaching American History grants. |
